Catty humans...

I've owned two cats in my life - or shall I say, I've been owned by two cats in my life. So even though I'm essentially a dog person, I certainly have a very soft spot for cats as well.

So imagine my disdain when I was treated like an invisible being by two cat owners in the vets waiting room the other day!

I so wished I could beam all my pet-blogger friends into the room with me to put those two in their place!

My little Chloe suffers from bad allergies and I finally asked for a referral to a specialist last week. So off we went to a new vets office. After a great consultation I felt quite happy that I got some good sound advice. So it was with a positive spring in my step that I went back to the waiting room whilst the prescription was filled for us.

Seated in the room were two ladies, each with a cat. I sat down, greeted them and started enquiring about their cats. The one ignored me totally, whilst the other one gave me a half-hearted greeting, squinted at my little princess and turned toward cat-lady number 2. They continued their conversation as if I didn't exist and my Chlo and I claimed our little corner in silence.

I wanted to tell them we were allergic, not contaminated!

Ok, now I feel better. Thanks for listening. Oh, and Chloe and I continue to love cats AND their owners - we'll just watch out for those two catty humans from now on! :)

  1. The more people and cats are together the more people act like cats

  2. I grew up with dogs and horses and only adopted my first cat after my ex and I split 10 years ago. I wouldn't consider myself a "cat" person, but I love my companions dearly, more than I ever can say. We have our cat blog, but I would be blogging about any four-legged companion I had--dog, cat, horse, rabbit, etc. It's unfortunate those women were so "catty." IMO, all four-legged Beings are equally wonderful and worthy!

  4. There you go - I knew there was hope! We clearly were just unfortunate to encounter two unpleasant humans. Maybe I should learn how to comunicate in animal language rather - I suspect the conversations will be much kinder and more entertaining! :)

Medicine unfortunately is taking a while to work - we just can't seem to beat whatever is causing her rashes. We have to see the specialist in 3 months time again, so we need to just be patient now. Thanks for the good wishes!

  5. that's a shame that that had to happen to you. I don't understand people sometimes. I have a cat and a dog and accompany both of them to the vet. I have to say that when I bring my cat people with dogs tend to stay away from us. I have assumed it is probably because their dog doesn't like cats...(my cat LOVES dogs)....frankly when we take our dog to the vet we don't see many cat people. I am really sorry you met two people who were so rude, we cat lovers aren't ALL like that! I would have spoken to you for sure!
    Hope the meds work!

  7. Not cool at all! Those poor kitties having such rude humans. I sometimes don't understand people. Very funny what Foley Monster and Pocket wrote!

I do hope Chloe is O.K. and finds the help she needs to overcome her allergies. Poor thing! Paws crossed she feels better!
